The story

The first thing that happened, was the building of dams.
Just in case, for the future, you can never be too careful!
Experts were consulted and common sense took its course
We nodded our heads and approved the foundations.

The next thing that happened was a slow building storm
The foundations in place but the structure still forming
The pressure, the pounding, no where to breathe
Any weakness reinforced stronger than its surroundings

Nothing came next, slow growth over time
landscape slowly changing, pleasing to the eye
The presence almost natural, pleasing to the mind
Its hard to remember a time with no dams

The fourth thing was joyous, laughter in the air
Congratulations! Celebrations! No need for fear
Preperations complete a beginning and an end
Attention all focused on the success and the plans

The last thing that happened will never be forgot
The ruins scar the land, scorched forever in the dirt
the aftershock still spreading, still scarring, still burning
They wont dare to rebuild or acknowledge the truth

Dismiss the future danger

Avert your eyes and keep on walking

That was either a beautiful personal introspection.... or something to do with Premier Beattie's lack of a decent water management policy.

Build those dams, dammit !!!

10AC (I'll be totally dry and unable to meet Brisbane's needs by November 2008)
