The best posting happens after midnight! these are the rules of lucubration. So whats been going on in the last month.... ummmm

VALENTINES!
I'm not one of those people who loathes the holiday for its commercialism and forced affections. Nor am I one who loves its romance and idealism. Its just one of those days I'm not going to enjoy in my single state so I just ignore it. Ive never been one to receive gifts or cards or messages of any kind. Except of course within my last relationship when it was just another excuse to buy each other cool stuff. This year however I got a very big surprise. A couple of days before actual Valentine's I received a card in the mail. It was anonymous and they had been very careful to cover their tracks and leave no clues to identity. It said that this gift was to be used to pay off centerlink. The horrible debt hanging over my head that Ive posted about. Then there was the money order for a large sum of money. A very very very large sum of money cutting my debt in half. I don't think I can possibly express the waves of emotion that came from this. Someone was generous enough to donate that money to me without any thanks or credit. That someone could be so generous, and to me, was shocking, overwhelming, humbling and I cried.
I don't know who it was, but you have helped me so much and I am truly humbled by your generosity.
I was in shock for many days before it really sunk in., which is why I'm only writing about this now.

Then I got sick. I caught a nasty flu that really knocked me around and Im still feeling its affects. I couldn't really work and I'm really behind on restorations. Which will take me quite some time to get back on top of.

I've gotten back into painting. I was quite an enthusiastic art student in high school and have always been into crafts of various kinds. Despite my enthusiasm however my grades were always quite average. So I took it that, while enjoyable, art wasn't a particular skill of mine. I continued to paint in various other crafty hobbies, like painting warhammer figures. Painting miniatures takes a completely different range of techniques to painting on canvas. I had HEAPS of fun and frustration working on those. But eventually dropped the hobby due to the ridiculous increase in costs. My arts hobbies took a back seat from there on.
I decided to paint a picture for a housewarming gift of a good friends online avatar. So he can have it in his house, the odd creature he represents himself with was a creation while doodling in a sketch pad at work. It was so bizarre he fell in love with it and the rest is history. The painting turned out 100 times better than I expected. In another effort to save money on gifts but to give something appropriate I found a good source image of a clone trooper helmet and painted it for a complete star wars nutter couple about to become a family of three. It also far exceeded my expectations.
That was it, I was hooked again.

Ever since Ive been testing my skills and attempting increasingly more complex paintings and finding despite some frustrations I can actually produce what I'm visualizing. After people started commenting on the paintings as something they would pay money for. I decided to follow this up as an avenue of extra income and debt repayment.

Heres my most difficult piece so far:

So this month I'll be exhibiting in a collective show. Its all local artists and the monthly exhibitions have been gaining more and more popularity since late last year when they first began. I went to that show and bought my first ever piece of art. Now I'm going to be in it! WHEEEE
I'm so excited.
I need to churn out as much as I can between now and then. I don't know if i have enough pictures to fill my allocated space!

I'm also considering having some of my photographs for sale. Id need to mount them though and I have no idea how to do that. Or where I could get it done relatively cheaply.

Okay time for sleep, Im opening the shop 6 hours!
