but what is science?

I like science, so Im experiementing with differant mosquito bite treatments.
I spoke to a pharmacist today and he said Im hypersensitive to mozzie bites and recommended a few things
Ive taken Ibuprofen which is an anti-inflamatory and should help the swelling reduce.
Ive also taken an anti-histimine
and now each limb will get a slightly differant treatment.
I theory if the tablets work best everything should improve
If any of the other treatments are particularly effective that limb should improve faster than the others.
Right leg - Savlon, an antiseptic cream
Left leg - hot water treatment
1. Run hot water in the sink right until the point when it starts to steam up (not to the point that it would cause burns if touched but it needs to be HOT).2. Take a rag/paper towel and place that under the hot water.
3. Apply the rag to the bite.
4. It's going to itch like CRAZY for about ten seconds but after that the itching should be completely gone.
What's actually going on is the hot water is releasing all your body's histamine in the area of the bite all at once. Since there's no more histamine to release after that 10 second period it won't itch anymore (for a period of time dependent on your body, mines usually 8-10 hours). This is the same principle as to why people apply cold packs, it slows down the histamine release releaving the itching.
Right arm - Egoderm cream which is supposed to treat itchy red skin
Left Arm - Pinetarsol Gel Treats the itch and swelling
YAY SCIENCE
